Problem: On the Moon or in orbit, Earth is seconds away and the link drops — a central controller can't fly a swarm through blackouts, and robots are lost to dust and terrain.
N-Base fix: Every robot decides locally and the swarm keeps a shared picture over peer-to-peer links, with no ground station in the loop. When a unit dies, the rest re-organize — and every decision is reproducible, which matters for flight-software certification.
Disaster Response & SAR
Problem: Collapsed buildings and wildfires knock out GPS and comms exactly when you need drones most — a swarm that needs a network can't operate where the network is gone.
N-Base fix: Drones self-organize with no infrastructure — mapping rubble, finding survivors and coordinating locally. Each drone detects when it's degraded, so the swarm never acts on bad data.
Contested & Defense
Problem: In jammed, GPS-denied environments a swarm with a leader or a shared link is a single point of failure — jam it and the mission stops.
N-Base fix: Coordination survives jamming, agent loss and even compromised drones — each unit detects degradation locally and re-allocates its role, under retained human intent. No central node to lose.
Robotics & Logistics
Problem: Warehouse robots and drone fleets lean on a central coordinator — remove it and the fleet stalls, scaling hits a ceiling.
N-Base fix: Robots coordinate peer-to-peer — mapping, sorting and balancing load with no central bottleneck and no scaling ceiling. Add or lose units and the fleet keeps working.
